On July 5, 2013 I found out I was pregnant. I was 14 weeks pregnant and my precious little baby will be born on January 2, 2013. How ecstatic was I!! Nick and I would be parents!!!
The pregnancy went awesomely. I was gaining a bit more than I should have, but I was eating a lot and enjoying being pregnant. I didn't have any morning sickness. A few times my baby didn't like something I ate and it came right back up. Fruit Punch, watermelon, burritos, pulled pork sandwiches etc.
The ultrasounds were wonderful and fun. We even got a few ultrasound videos!
I started to feel a bit uneasy riding for more than a mile in a car. It was ok though because I only live a mile from work.
I had my bimonthly ultrasound and got a call saying that his brain valve looked a little on the high side and they wanted me to come in again in a month to have it rechecked.
Friday week 25 after work I bent down to put on socks and almost cried. My ankles were twice their normal size. It was so weird! I just attributed it to pregnancy.
The next Saturday, week 26, I got dressed up and went to my work's Art and Wine function. I looked beautiful. I was glowing. It was a four hour function and after the first hour my ankles and my legs were ginormous. I sat for the rest of the function trying to sooth my legs.
Sunday I woke up with a horrible headache. I didn't feel well. I started puking. I lay on the couch all day. I didn't turn on the tv for half the day, I couldn't concentrate on anything. I just sat there petting my dogs and resting my head.
Monday I went to work and threw up as soon as I sat at my desk. I felt half way better after that and just went along with my day.
Tuesday I had the same beginning to my day, throwing up and then feeling better. I went to my ultrasound to get the brain valve rechecked. The ultrasound tech said she didn't know why they called me to come back because the measurement was fine and they may have measured the valve at the wrong angle. So no big deal, my baby was doing alright, everything looked perfect! We spoke with the doctor and she said my blood pressure was a bit high, and my urine had a small level of protein in it. Nothing to be worried about, but with the headaches and leg swelling she wanted me to come back in in 3 days (friday) for a recheck. She also said that I don't have morning sickness. It could be the flu or a symptom to something else. That started to make me scared, but I knew that with the recheck everything would be ok.
Wednesday, I threw up before I even left the house, but then I felt halfway better at work and the rest of the day.
Thursday same thing, I couldn't leave my house before I got sick again. I didn't feel so much better at work that day. I spent alot of time trying to pay attention at work, but somehow couldn't. I was 27 weeks pregnant this day.
Friday I drove half a mile before I had to pull over. I got sick in a field by the side of the road. 1/2 a mile from my house......I couldn't believe it! I finally got to work and just stared at the wall. I had originally thought that I could drive to Littleton for my check up by myself, but something told me that I wanted my husband Nick to be there with me. I called him up and asked if he could take me. He asked his boss and away we went. The doctor took my vitals and told me that we needed to drive to the hospital immediately. My blood pressure was 190/110. The protein in my urine was +4 which is the highest it can be. She said I definitely have severe pre-eclampsia. Thank goodness Nick brought me; I don't know if I could have driven back to Lone Tree to the hospital by myself.
stay tuned for the second part of this saga......Staying alive.
