Dr Gray wheeled me into the operating room and scooted me onto my table. Nick was told he had to stay outside the room until my epidural was done because they needed everything to be sterile. I got my epidural done, didn't feel a thing and laid down. My hands were shaking, which I was told was normal, so I didn't fret. Nick came in and sat by my head. he held my hand and held the camera. I told him I wanted as many photos as he could take because it's a once in a lifetime surgery. There was a screen by my shoulders so I couldn't see what was going on, but Nick could stand up and see it. He said it was really cool. I felt tugging but that's it. Nick too pics of the with my stomach out, and then with the baby coming out and getting it's umbilical cord cut. I was told later that as soon as they took my child out of me, my placenta came off the wall. That was not supposed to happen. If I would have gone through labor like they were trying to have me do, it would have fallen detached and I would have bled to death. Even if I was waiting in the waiting room longer, I could have bled to death. Scary! I'm glad I had a c-section.
He was born at 8:56 pm on October 6th. They took my newborn child and cleaned him up. They weighed him, 2 lbs 3 oz with tubes and such, so about 2 lbs 2 oz., and made sure he was breathing fine. they wrapped him up, let me kiss him goodbye and they took him over to the NICU. Nick followed him. I'm so glad he did. I wanted him to make sure that our child was ok and not alone without one of his parents.
I was stapled together and sent back to my room. I was wheeled by my parents they were happy to see me. Then I was told to sleep for a little bit. It was time to recover. My parents came in to say good night and Nick came in to sleep near me and be closer to the baby. I actually got 8 hours of sleep that night! finally I could rest knowing that I was going to be ok and my baby was going to be ok.

Pregnancy Part 2 - Staying Alive
We got to Sky Ridge in Lone Tree about 20 minutes later. The doc in Littleton had told us to go straight in at Skyridge and to skip the paperwork and have the doc take my blood pressure. I got there and they didn't know anything about me and wanted me to start paperwork. I told them about my blood pressure and they took me in, told me to pee in a cup, and had me lie down. I lay down and they hooked me up to a blood pressure machine. After they saw how high my blood pressure was, they tried to put IVs in me. Two tries with neither person being able to get a vein. They brought an ultrasound tech in to find veins for me. They were able to put in two IVs that would be there for the rest of my stay in the hospital.
They gave me Labetalol in an IV to bring my blood pressure down. They also gave me a shot of steroids in my butt. This is supposed to help my unborn child's lungs to grow. They gave me another in 12 hours, and then 12 hours later both steroid shots will have worked to their full potential.
After my blood pressure was lowered enough to be stable, they decided it would be best to move me to Presbyterian/ St. Lukes hospital in Denver. Skyridge can not take care of any child born before 28 weeks. My child was only 27 weeks gestation.
They decided that airlifting me would be the best way to get me there. I couldn't be on the road that long because of my critical nature. The AirLife people came in to get me prepared. They started wheeling me out of the room. They decided to check my blood pressure again at the door, and it was way high again. They gave me another shot of Labetalol. A few minutes later I was ok enough to move again. They said that I couldn't go by helicopter because the air cover was too dense. I was wearing a hospital gown and laying on a sheet. They wheeled me out to the ambulance. On the way out, they stopped by a blanket warming machine to grab a blanket to put over me. I was very thankful for this. With all the snow on the ground and the wind blowing I knew it would be cold out. We got outside and the sky looked clear. They decided to take the helicopter. I was put into the helicopter to stay warm while they wheeled it out of the hanger. They wrapped me up like a burrito. They asked me if I had ever been in a helicopter before. I said yes. they were very surprised. Most people haven't been in another helicopter before they are airlifted. I just haven't ever been in the back of a helicopter. I was laying with my feet in the cockpit and my head in the back. There was a pilot and three other people in the back of the helicopter. It was pretty neat to fly over Denver laying down. Half way through, my IV started to alarm. I had to unwrap myself from the burrito to find my IVs. My IV started to back up. Blood was running out of it instead of fluids running in. The Airlife lady fixed it and that was that. A bit scary for me, but she fixed it.
They got me settled into a room, hooked me up to even more IVs. Brit Rasmussen, my boss, came by to visit. She came to see how I was doing. I wasn't doing too well. They wouldn't let me eat or drink anything in case I went into surgery. They didn't want me to aspirate.
Nick went home to take care of the dogs, and I tried to sleep. All I could think about was what I didn't finish at work. I e-mailed my boss, I e-mailed education, I emailed HR, I took care of almost everything I could over e-mail. Then I was able to get 2 hours of beautiful sleep.
Saturday I had a few friends visit. Mary Turek came by, Nick's sister Lexi Ploysa stopped by with gifts. and Sheri Bailey came by with magazines. We talked for a while until my blood pressure monitor started beeping again and the girls thought they should let me rest and not get me worked up. Grandma Ploysa called from France to make sure that I was doing ok. Jen Simpson also called to make sure I was ok. They let me drink a bit and eat a bit. My parents came in around 5:00 pm on an airplane. It was good to see them. It made me feel a lot better. The nurses didn't like them in my room though, because my parents and husband talked too loud when they were together. We watched a bit of Iron Man 3 until it got to be too late. They went back to my house to sleep while again I tried to sleep. I ended up getting 4 hours of sleep! Yeah! Way more than Friday night.
Sunday I didn't feel too well, I was tired, I was dizzy, my head hurt. The doc said that we may try to induce labor to see how my baby would react to it to see if I could give birth naturally. They gave me Pitocin. They gave me 16 out of 20 to try to get me to contract. I wasn't feeling any contractions at all. However, the monitor showed that the child was reacting to contractions. It seemed like I have a very high pain tolerance and was actually contracting without knowing it. The baby's heart beat was going very low with each contraction. He would not have been able to make it through labor. They decided it would be best to take me into the operating room and give me a c-section.

Pregnancy part 1 - The diagnosis
With all that's going on, I thought I should start writing a blog about our experiences.
On July 5, 2013 I found out I was pregnant. I was 14 weeks pregnant and my precious little baby will be born on January 2, 2013. How ecstatic was I!! Nick and I would be parents!!!
The pregnancy went awesomely. I was gaining a bit more than I should have, but I was eating a lot and enjoying being pregnant. I didn't have any morning sickness. A few times my baby didn't like something I ate and it came right back up. Fruit Punch, watermelon, burritos, pulled pork sandwiches etc.
The ultrasounds were wonderful and fun. We even got a few ultrasound videos!
I started to feel a bit uneasy riding for more than a mile in a car. It was ok though because I only live a mile from work.
I had my bimonthly ultrasound and got a call saying that his brain valve looked a little on the high side and they wanted me to come in again in a month to have it rechecked.
Friday week 25 after work I bent down to put on socks and almost cried. My ankles were twice their normal size. It was so weird! I just attributed it to pregnancy.
The next Saturday, week 26, I got dressed up and went to my work's Art and Wine function. I looked beautiful. I was glowing. It was a four hour function and after the first hour my ankles and my legs were ginormous. I sat for the rest of the function trying to sooth my legs.
Sunday I woke up with a horrible headache. I didn't feel well. I started puking. I lay on the couch all day. I didn't turn on the tv for half the day, I couldn't concentrate on anything. I just sat there petting my dogs and resting my head.
Monday I went to work and threw up as soon as I sat at my desk. I felt half way better after that and just went along with my day.
Tuesday I had the same beginning to my day, throwing up and then feeling better. I went to my ultrasound to get the brain valve rechecked. The ultrasound tech said she didn't know why they called me to come back because the measurement was fine and they may have measured the valve at the wrong angle. So no big deal, my baby was doing alright, everything looked perfect! We spoke with the doctor and she said my blood pressure was a bit high, and my urine had a small level of protein in it. Nothing to be worried about, but with the headaches and leg swelling she wanted me to come back in in 3 days (friday) for a recheck. She also said that I don't have morning sickness. It could be the flu or a symptom to something else. That started to make me scared, but I knew that with the recheck everything would be ok.
Wednesday, I threw up before I even left the house, but then I felt halfway better at work and the rest of the day.
Thursday same thing, I couldn't leave my house before I got sick again. I didn't feel so much better at work that day. I spent alot of time trying to pay attention at work, but somehow couldn't. I was 27 weeks pregnant this day.
Friday I drove half a mile before I had to pull over. I got sick in a field by the side of the road. 1/2 a mile from my house......I couldn't believe it! I finally got to work and just stared at the wall. I had originally thought that I could drive to Littleton for my check up by myself, but something told me that I wanted my husband Nick to be there with me. I called him up and asked if he could take me. He asked his boss and away we went. The doctor took my vitals and told me that we needed to drive to the hospital immediately. My blood pressure was 190/110. The protein in my urine was +4 which is the highest it can be. She said I definitely have severe pre-eclampsia. Thank goodness Nick brought me; I don't know if I could have driven back to Lone Tree to the hospital by myself.
stay tuned for the second part of this saga......Staying alive.

Welcome to my new blog! review of Parched
Welcome to my new blog. Here I will be posting whatever I would like, mostly book reviews of paranormal, magic, dystopian, you name it. I love receiving new books to "test drive". Thank you to all of the authors who took it upon themselves to help a girl out so that I could help them get the word out about their books! Thank you to Goodreads.com First Reads for having wonderful giveaway program for new and established authors and publishers to get their books into the public eye.
The first book I want to review is Parched by Z. L. Arkadie
The information about this book from goodreads says:
Discover a delicious new vampire novel series that will leave you yearning for more... Parched, Book ONE, A Paranormal Romance.
"Baron Ford," he says and pauses to pick apart my expression, attempting to read how familiar I am with that name. I nod stiffly to give no indication I know exactly, who that is. I'm shocked to hear it in this setting, at this stage of my life, the one far away from Cambridge, Massachusetts over five years later."
Advertising Executive, Clarity Parker thought she would never see Baron Ford again. Five years ago, she fell in love with him on their magical first date and then poof--he literally vanished into thin air. That's why she's stunned to hear his name again. After all, five years have passed since that night, and now, to add intrigue to insult, he's requested that she be exclusively assigned to his multi-million dollar account.
Clarity makes every effort to avoid Baron Ford but when he finally catches up to her he issues a warning; things are not safe for her in the city anymore, especially since the strange fog has settled over Manhattan.
Before the foggy day is over Clarity's entire world will come crashing down. Everything about her life that she thought was true is a lie! And there's no time to question her soap opera star mother or business mogul father about it because Baron was right, her life is in danger, and so is his!
One thing's for sure, from this point on, the world as Clarity Parker knows it will never be the same.
I would have loved to read more about the darkness and what it would have done if it captured any of them.
I loved how there was danger, and that they didn't escape being hurt, just because they were main characters. It's more "realistic" that way.
Over all a good fun read. check it out:Parched

My review:
This book was a breath of fresh air. It's like nothing I've ready before. multiple realms, beauty knowledge, and passion. The darkness is out there and people have the ability to choose the dark or the light.
I would have loved to read more about the darkness and what it would have done if it captured any of them.
